It was a long busy week for us Hampton Dazers. We started off the week with some Georgica Monday's. The $25 prix fixe was killer and we definitely recommend it. The falsely advertised drink specials were not. We feel we should warn the public. It’s a two (not three) course prix fixe with $5 shots, $6 beers, and $7 well drinks at the bar. A pretty good deal... Just not as good as the ones we got 10 emails for that week! Either way we highly recommend it!
Tuesday we headed over to the Talkhouse to check out the band Los Amigos Gringos. Always a great show with those guys. Make sure you check them out. The crowd was going wild.
Wednesday it was Badfish at the Talkhouse (yes we went two nights in a row). It's always great to hear the best Sublime cover band out there. We ordered way more than two pints of booze and seriously became badfish too!
Thursday we headed into the city for Fangoria - "Night of the Living Decks" art show featuring three hand painted skateboards by East Hampton's own Victor Giannini. After that is was off to the Hillary Flowers fashion show at Tavern on the Green, which was positively fab.
Saturday we had an amazing photo shoot with Erin Lucas of MTV's show The City at the Crows Nest Restaurant in Montauk. The shoot went amazing. In Hillary Flowers and Cori Jean dresses Erin looked great and we can't wait for our next issue to hit the stands. Two weeks, peeps!
Saturday night we were extremely indecisive about where we wanted to go. So we got dressed to the nines and decided to wing it. We headed to Blue Parrot around 9 for dinner but there were already 10 people inside so we were denied (told to wait an hour). We headed over to Bamboo instead for an amazing watermelon martini and some sushi. We got word that Nicky Hilton was heading to Lily Pond. We decided it was a great idea to go also. “If we don't get into Lily Pond, we never went” is what we said (by “get in” we mean not pay to get in, we frown on cover charges). Nope, if we don't get into Lily Pond we write a column about how lame they are and how we would never pay $40 to get into a place that should be named "Three Mile Harbor". Silly Pond is 1,000,000 percent lame, but we'll probably be there next Thursday.
After being denied from two places in one night we headed to Fiddlers where we thought for sure we'd be accepted. Wrong again, were asked, "are you ladies here for the weekend or the whole summer" by people we've met before! They should know we're locals by now... And not assume that because we're at a bar in fancy dresses that we can't hang. Rude. All the rejection was too much for us so we called it an early night!
Sunday Funday we headed to Cyril’s for happy hour and the Collie Buddz show at the Talkhouse after that.

Love Heals

Friday night we headed over to check out the new Blue Parrot. The Parrot was one of our favorite watering holes until 3 years ago when it was closed down. You couldn’t imagine our excitement when we got word that it had reopen (to the public and not just for private parties… really how dare they not think to invite us??). As we waited to be 3 of the 8 people allowed at the bar at a time, there was a slight disturbance outside because of some sort of seating problem. We were worried that our beloved Parrot would just not be the same. Once we got inside we breathed a sigh of relief. Yes, it has become a nicer, cleaner version of the old Blue Parrot but the feeling was still there. Drinks were still decently priced, food was still over priced and we were excited to be back. Make sure you head over to the Blue Parrot and get yourself a Dirty Bird Margarita. Once they have the grand Re-opening, Blue Parrot will be completely back in action serving a full menu until midnight and bar menu until 2am.

Saturday night we attended the Love Heals Charity event hosted by Charlotte Ronson, benefiting the Alison Gertz Foundation for AIDS Education. The event, which takes place annually at Luna Farm in Sagaponack, was relocated to Polish Hall in Southampton. Thank you rain! To our surprise Polish hall looked amazing and was completely redone into a beautiful beach chic cocktail party. We walked in and were greeted by three good-looking men. One was the party lifeguard, and the other two were holding trays of Hampton Passion drinks, the drink of the night. Yes, this was going to be a very good party. It was, we danced, pledged money onto a screen overlooking the party in return for the music of Journey, and had a great Southern BBQ dinner with Crumbs cupcakes for desert. Love heals is hands down one of the best events of the summer and supports a great cause.

Sunday, well Sunday-Funday, started off a little slow because lets face it, love just doesn’t heal hangovers. The weather also made us lazy enough to miss brunch and all of our regular Happy Hour Reggae nights. By 10pm we decided we should do something with our lives. We couldn’t let Sunday-Funday pass us by so we headed to the Stephen Talkhouse to check out Winston Irie. It was another great night and another great weekend… check out our website for more www.hamptondaze.com

Boys, Bellinis, and Fun… Oh my!

Saturday was event day. After the beach we headed over to Matto in East Hampton for the Dopo Il Sole event. Boys, Bellinis, and Fun! Brought to you by Michael Dare and Marc Zowine every Saturday from 3:00 - 5:30 pm rain or shine. The boy with the best tan line wins a luxurious Hampton Sun "Smart Serious Sunbathing" gift basket. We chatted with Hampton Sun owner Salvatore Piazolla and Hampton Sun Eye Candy Jaques Mitchell about the Hampton Sun products and got to sample some sun tan lotions. Its good stuff!

After Boys Bellinis and Fun we headed over to the release party for the New Magazine "The New York Hamptonite" at Four Seasons Caterers in Southampton. Hosted by cover girl and real life Countess LuAnn de Lesseps of The Real Housewives of New York City. The new magazine looked pretty nice, but obviously not as great as Hampton Daze Magazine. We joke, the magazine came out great and the party was fun. It was interesting to see how they mixed local with high society in New York City and the Hamptons. It was a different crowd than the kids we usually run with (you've seen the show) but we did enjoy great food and wine. Make sure you check out the magazine.

Sunday was fun-day! It was off to Cyril's for a quick BBC before heading out to Montauk for the Blessing of the Fleet. We watched the boats come back into the harbor from Gosman's and enjoyed the beautiful day and beautiful scenery. After that it was off to Surf Lodge for Reggae night for the See-I and rumored G. Love show. G. Love was a no show (not really he did perform the night before) and See-I was amazing. Overall it was another great weekend.

How the Minutemen ruined our Saturday night...

In front of Della Femina Restaurant the last two Saturday nights the Minutemen have ventured off of their early morning stomping ground 711. They have come to protest Jerry Della Feminas restaurant because of a column written a few weeks ago in this fine publication sympathetic to the illegal workers trying to find work in the Hamptons. Well, this Saturday night, us Hampton Daze girls happen to be staying in the apartment above Della Femina restaurant, home of the best food on earth. The past two Saturdays we have missed confrontation due to our very hectic social schedules. This week we were determined not to miss them. We got word that they would most definitely be back and we should have cameras ready to document a man with a gas mask holding a sign that says "Swine Flu is Here". We decided we would take it one (or five) steps further. Equipped with a Mr. Burns from the Simpson’s facemask, a Barack Obama facemask, video camera and water balloons we were ready to start a little semi-peaceful protest of our own. The plan was to make the greatest Youtube video ever. We would film the protesters from across the street, one of us would be dancing around in a Mr. Burns mask, and one in an Obama mask on the Della Femina roof, which the protesters would never be able to see from the angle they would be standing. Then the water balloons would be thrown. Surely the man in the gas mask would be protected from a few little water balloons. But they'd be scared! Probably more scared than they actually are of getting swine flu in real life. Then we'd film the reactions.

At around 5pm we went over to the bar at Matto to stakeout the sidewalk, and also to have a few Bellini’s and some dinner. And can you believe it, they were total no shows. The sidewalk was empty of protest. You cannot even imagine our disappointment! This was going to be our moment to shine. Around 7pm we gave up hope, but at least we had an amazing dinner at Matto, with Betsey Johnson sitting at the table next to us, we love her! Since Matto has been under new management formerly of the world-renowned Cipriani restaurant, the food has been amazing. Also for all of our gay boyfriends out there, Michael Dare & Marc Zowine introduce Dopo Il Sole at Matto starting this Saturday at 3pm to 5:30pm. Join us for Bellini’s, Boys, and Fun! The boy with the best tan line will win a luxurious Hampton Sun "Smart Serious Sunbathing" gift basket. Who knows, maybe if any protesters show up we can continue the party as a wet t-shirt contest in the streets. We'll supply the water balloons!

After our failed stakeout we headed to the Stephen Talkhouse to check out PT Walkley and Winston Irie play. It turned out to be a great night despite the lack of confrontation. If you get the chance to see either of these acts, make sure you go! They have both been featured in Hampton Daze Magazine.

Disclaimer - this column is intended to be a joke! And from time to time we write our column reflecting the things we would like to do but would probably never have the guts to do. We may have talked about the water balloon idea for hours, but when it comes down to it, we are afraid of arrest and we're not really sure if throwing water balloons from a roof would be categorized under aggravated assault, littering, vandalism, or all three. Therefore we'd like to challenge the Protesters to a water balloon fight on neutral ground! You bring the gas mask; we'll bring the Mr. Burns mask, game on. Everyone is invited to settle this mess once and for all. And doesn't everyone win in a water balloon fight? Can't we all just get along?

Sunday Night is Reggae Night

We had a hard time picking which reggae night we wished to attend this Sunday night. Sunday is Reggae night and there are quite a few to choose from. East Hampton Point in Springs has had reggae night on Sundays for years, as well as The Stephen Talkhouse in Amagansett, The Surf Lodge in Montauk, and we're assuming Ziggy's in Bridgehampton is still doing Sunday Reggae night, like last summer, since the new Harbor Club has changed venues from Ziggy's to Georgica (old Saracen) in order to accomodate more people. Why do these places have all have reggae on the same night? Sunday is the perfect night for relaxing music, unwinding from the long weekend with some frozen drinks. We went back and forth between East Hampton Point and The Surf Lodge until we heard that Stephen Marley was playing at The Surf Lodge for free. We really enjoy it when things are free. You don't get much better than this. Between the sunset and the energy of Stephen & Julian Marley (son’s of the legendary Bob Marley) and the crowd yelling for one more set, this made for a very memorable evening. With all of the cool stuff we get to see out here in this wonderful place we live, you have to admit that sometimes it can be pretty mind blowing. We also could never complain about the complementary Dos Equis beer and the prices that we believe may have dropped a bit since last summer. We’ve never been so excited to order $9 cocktails. On top of the great atmosphere The Surf Lodge wins the prize for the best looking people out on a Sunday night, we believe this is due to the lighting and the sunset, it's pretty much impossible to look bad. The Surf Lodge will be having live music on Sundays throughout this summer and we suggest you make it out. You should also check out the Surf Lodge website (www.thesurflodge.com) for a list of their 2009 concert series with performers such as Timmy Curran, Ben Sollee, & Mason Jennings. Also check out the outdoor Surf Cinema and Art series.

Some events for this weekend:
On Friday night’s Mama Lee & Friends will be playing at Turtle Crossing in East Hampton. Enjoy great music and $3 drafts for Happy Hour.
At the Stephen Talkhouse make sure you check out Dan Asselin on Friday night at 8PM. On Saturday PT Walkley will be playing at 8PM followed by Winston Irie. Both performers have been featured in Hampton Daze Magazine, so you know they have to be good!

The Lodge in East Hampton has started an industry night every Tuesday this summer. There will be great music and Happy Hour prices all night long! Make sure you don’t miss out!

Look up Hampton Daze is on Twitter (www.twitter.com/hamptondaze). Make sure you add us for updates and let us know how it works, because this new technology is really lost on us. If you don’t get it either, we can still be contacted via email at info@hamptondaze.com.

We've decided that this week we will fill our column with photos. We'd like to thank everyone who came out to the Hampton Daze Cocktail Party at Hampton Coffee Company and our Bikini Fashion Show at the Lodge. The weekend went perfect. The weather apparently does do what we tell it. Huge thank you to Zaida Resto for the amazing make up and styling at The Lodge, her assistants Liz and Melissa, Sam LaFountain for hair, and models Nicole Locher, Brielle Rockett, Sam, Victoria de lesseps, Cheryl Bennett, Caety Fallon. Sondra Lenz for setting up the raffle to raise money for Relay For Life the American Cancer Society, Josann Jeffrey and Melanie Fitzgerald for doing such a great job selling tickets. Kelly b for giving us the clothes for the show, winning the 50/50 raffle and donating her half of the money right back to the cause. Jenna Mackin and Caety Fallon for setting up the party and Jenna and Anne for holding it down back stage. Everyone at The Lodge and Hampton Coffee Company, we pulled off two great events. Everyone who came out, helped out, and was a part of the magazine, you rock! After four nights of being out on the town, three late night trips to Hampton bagel, two stolen wallets (really!), and one encounter with each a very angry and irrational bartender, local, road rager, and bouncer we could probably turn this weekend into a best selling novel. We’ll let the photos speak for themselves.

Memorial Day Weekend

You know Memorial Day Weekend is approaching when you cant get a reservation at the your favorite restaurant until 9pm, it takes a half hour to get a cup of coffee at Starbucks, the outside bar is open at Stephen Talkhouse, Beach Bar and Boardy Barn have their opening weekend, and you have you have to flip the bird every five seconds to the people who forget how to drive. Town is crowded but it’s ok. It’s summer, and it’s time for the fun to begin.

Let’s start by having you take a look at the two advertisements below this column. These two events are the most important events of Memorial Day weekend. Hands Down. The Hampton Coffee Company Cocktail Party on Saturday from 6-8pm will be wonderful. How can you go wrong with complementary cocktails, appetizers, and fun giveaways? Come on, in these hard economic times are you really going to turn down a free drink? We didn’t think so.

While planning for our party for Memorial Day weekend at the Lodge (again, see advertisement below) we decided to scope out the place during brunch. We have become big fans of Sunday brunch. And there is nothing better than a relaxing Sunday morning/afternoon at the Lodge. The brunch buffet with unlimited Mimosas and Bloody Mary’s is not to be missed. It’s a great place for us girls to gossip with one another about the debauchery that ensued the night’s prior. Anyway, our party is going to be off the hook. We are hosting with the Hampton Angels. We have a fashion shows set up at the outside bar with the hottest bikinis in the world from the glorious kelly b boutique in Montauk. There will be a silent auction and 50/50 raffle to benefit Relay For Life. You do not want to miss it!

Now obviously the two events advertised below are the most important events of Memorial Day weekend but here are a few others we suggest you check out as well… you can thank us later:

Benefits to attend: Planned Parenthood (takes place Sunday 5:30-7:30pm), Kites for a Cure (Benefits Joan’s Legacy Lung Cancer Foundation. Saturday 4pm at Coopers Beach)

New Openings: Blue Parrot (actually not new at all but open for the first time in 4 years! We could not be more thrilled.), AXE Lounge (formerly Dune, and is sure to smell like a good looking boy), Harbor Club (formerly Ziggy’s now under new ownership, will definitely be the place to be this summer.)

New Shopping: Gloria Jewel (Bridgehampton), Hermes (East Hampton), Tommy Hilfiger (East Hampton), DVF (Southampton), kelly b (Montauk)

And most importantly GO TO THE BEACH! For more information on what you should be doing this summer make sure you pick up a copy of Hampton Daze Magazine. Or check out our website www.hamptondaze.com.

Fashion Tip (Trick) of the Week: Add a flower to your hair. You wont understand the term flower power until you go out with this accessory.
